Biography
Edward B. Claxton III (Bo) was born and raised in Dublin, Georgia. He graduated from Dublin High School. He received his college undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Georgia in 1979. He graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, in 1982. He was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1982 and to the State Bar of South Carolina in 1996. Mr. Claxton is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia, the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Georgia, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Georgia, the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for District of South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Bo is a member of the Dublin Circuit Bar Association, serving as its Secretary/Treasurer in 1985-1986, its Vice-President in 1986-1987, and as its President in 1987-1988. He is a Sustaining Member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant's Representatives.
Bo's primary practice areas are in Bankruptcy, Social Security Disability, Real Estate, Personal Injury, Probate and Civil Litigation.
Being active in the community is an important as part of his practice of law. He is a member of First Baptist Church, the Dublin Rotary Club (serving on the Board of Directors for 1991-1992, 1993-1994, 1998-1999, and 2014-2015 and as President in 2015-2016). In Rotary, he is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Will Watt Fellow. He served as Chairman, Dignitaries Committee Dublin-Laurens County St. Patrick's Festival (1983-1984). Member of the Laurens County Chapter of the American Cancer Society (Executive Board 1984-1989, Vice-President 1987-1988, President 1988-1989, Chairman of the Board 1989-1990). Executive Board of the Dublin-Laurens Clean and Beautiful, Inc. (1984-1989). Member of the Laurens County Historical Society (Board of Directors, 1984-1987 and 1990, President 1987-1989). President of the Friends of the Laurens County Library (1986-1989). Member of the Georgia Power Consumer Advisory Council (1986-1987). President of the Georgia Library Trustees and Friends Association (1987-1989). He has served a number of terms on the Board of Directors of Easter Seals Middle Georgia, Inc.
Bo began his general practice of law in 1982 with the firm of Jones, Jones, and Hilburn in Dublin. The firm later became Jones, Jones, Hilburn and Claxton. In 2000 the firm dissolved and Bo began work as a solo practitioner.
Bo enjoys the practice of law. He and his qualified staff continue to work to fulfill the goals of their clients.
